"Loveliest of Trees"

Loveliest of trees the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.

Now of my three score years and ten,
twenty will not come again.
And take from seventy years a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom,
Fifty Springs is little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.

I sang a really cool setting of this for a voice recital in college and still remember every note. though I haven't had the sheet music in decades...so it was very happy to see it here in celebration of spring.

Also, A.E. Housman makes me think of my dad, who loved to recite "Terence, this is stupid stuff" and inspired me to memorize it in high school. Thanks!
