Ok, maybe NOT the Great Litany....

Well, give me a break already...it's not like we DO Ash Wednesday every Wednesday. Instead of page 149, its 267. HOWEVER, I think The Great Litany is appropriate for the angst-filled times our Church is in, so it would not be a bad idea to pray it a few times if not more through out Lent.

Ok. All done.

I couldn't agree more with your assertion to pray the Great Litany throughout Lent. And I'd say try chanting it. I was practicing doing just that yesterday, as I will be presiding at our liturgies this upcoming 1st Sunday in Lent. And I was struck to the heart at the prayers - as if they were written for us, right now, in our current condition as a church body.
And I'd say the same for the lectionary prescription of reading Corinthians during Epiphany - perfectly timed.

Peace

Thank you Jennifer, and you are right too. I do hope that The Great Litany will be prayed or chanted many times this Lent because as you said, it is for times such as this that we need to pray very hard and the Litany helps us by helping us find the right words.

Reading the lectionary for this time is most apppropriate as a companion to the Litany, and I thank you ever so much for your comments here, and elsewhere.

Blessings to you this Lent.

[My correction was for the litany/confession as found in the liturgy for Ash Wednesday; every church does this day differently; at one parish we did the Litany then the service. Rev Anne+, my priest, did the regular liturgy without the Litany].
